Karate

I have had a great fascination of the martial arts since I was a young boy. Although I received some cursory instruction, my formal training began when I was sixteen. I received an intermediate rank in a style that combined Shotokan and Goju-Ryu karate.

When I went to college, I joined a karate extension team that went out and performed karate demonstrations and preached the gospel. After 20 years of training, I currently hold a third degree black belt in Chinese Kenpo karate. I have also had some elementary training in Muay Thai kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Krav Maga and Tae Kwon Do.

At the age of sixteen, I began to seek for opportunities to use the martial arts skills that God had enabled me to develop for His glory. Since that time I have had countless opportunities to preach and share the gospel with the lost as well as Christians in karate demonstrations and karate camps. Souls have been saved and Christians have made decisions that have helped strengthen their walk with God.  To God be the glory!

It is my desire to use my martial arts training as an outreach tool and not as a gimmick. I am not a karate evangelist—that is, I don’t perform karate demonstrations in each service of my revival and evangelistic meetings. My burden is for God’s Word to be preeminent even in my karate demonstrations.

I desire to use my martial arts training as an outreach tool and not as a gimmick. I am not a karate evangelist – that is, I don’t perform karate demonstrations in each service of all my revival and evangelistic meetings. However, if you as a Pastor, Youth Pastor, or Camp Director would like to utilize this aspect of my ministry, please let me know and I would be honored to do a demonstration or week of karate camp for God’s glory.
